USA - Bradley Emmanuel BEAL - Day 5 of the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Hamburg, Germany. 06/07/2010, preliminary round.
HAMBURG (FIBA U17 World Championship) – Egypt gave their all to challenge the USA, but were literally overrun by the group A leaders in a 132-64 blowout. Seven american players scored in double-figures, with Bradley Beal and Michael Gilchrist (18 each) leading the way. Ahmed Hamdi scored 18 points as well in a losing effort.
The United States once again entertained the crowd at the Sporthalle Hamburg with several dunks and and fine defense. Bradley Beal opened the first quarter going 3-of-3 from the beyond the arc – at the end of the contest he was 4-of-7. The only player on coach Don Showalters squad to not score a single point was Anthony Wroten, who, being a true point guard, dished out 8 assists. He would not be the best passer tonight though, as his team mate and starting floor general Quinn Cook collected 10 dimes.
Quotes:
Don Showalter, U.S. head coach: "Egypt played really hard, and this game was as important to us as any other game. This morning we also had our best practice – I am proud of our guys."
Hesham Aboserea, Egypt head coach: "The Americans played very well. We did not play at full power because we have another important game tomorrow."
