Draw of the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship

The draw of the FIBA U17 World Championship for Men in Hamburg, Germany took place on February 10th, 2010 at 1:00 pm (GMT +1). The venue of the draw was the Sporthalle am Turmweg in Hamburg, district Harvestehude (Turmweg 3, 20148 Hamburg).

 


The draw took place in coordination with the finale of the "Youth practices for the Olympics". This project is the biggest sports movements for school children worldwide. Additionally, it gives young athletes to the opportunity to experience professional competition and grow from it. Thanks to this initiative, many future participants of the Olympic Games started their professional careers.

The official ceremony for the draw started off with the performance of the local music act, Dean. He is a young rapper from Hamburg who adapted his song "We put our heart in" to the FIBA U17 WCFM.

 


Dean's introductory performance was followed by the welcome speeches of Ingo Weiss, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the FIBA U17 WCM as well as President of the German Basketball Federation, Prof. Dr. Karin von Welck, Senator for Culture, Sports, and Media of the City of Hamburg, and Lubomir Kotleba, Director of Sports of the FIBA.
